DIY: GETTING MORE WEAR OUT OF YOUR SHOES

Hello everyone,

Sorry for being away this long, I don't know why, but I seem to be having some kind of block, (Maybe it's writer's block). Anyway, I did something interesting yesterday, and I decided to share it with you. As the title implies, it is a DIY project. If there is one thing that I love, it is DIY projects, (unfortunately, I don't get to do a lot of them). Infact, the only other "almost" DIY project I have done is documented here. Apart, from DIY projects, another thing I love is style (I'm sure you must have guessed as much by now). However, what you may not know is that, among all the style items, I love shoes the most.

So, I had some shoes that were on the verge of moving  to the other side (trash), but I wasn't ready to let go of all of them just yet. I started thinking of ways to buy a little more wear out of them before I am ready to replace them. Sadly, I didn't have much choice. Suddenly, I noticed that the problem with one of the shoes was not in the leather or the sole, but with the insole (the part where your feet rests). The covering of the insole was peeling off and because it's a sandal, it was obvious. I decided to give a shoemaker to change that part. Then a day before I sent it off for repairs, I saw a slippers looking like it had it's insole covered with cloth. Thus, this superb idea was born!

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. Your shoe that needs repurposing
  2. Fabric for covering
  3. Glue (preferably clear glue)
  4. Scissors

HOW TO FIX IT
  • Be sure to have all you need ready. You don't want to be running helter skelter half way through.
  • Carefully dismantle the shoe into different parts as shown above. Be extra careful with the insole, it could break.
  • Apply the glue on the top part of the insole (the part where your feet rests), the place the fabric/material on it.
  • Ensure that the material is well placed and that it is smooth on the insole. Do the same for the sides of the insole.
  • Measure what length of material you'll need to fold unto the back of the insole.
  • Cut off any excess material, then glue the material to the back.
  • Glue on the top (uusually leather) of the sandal as it was when you dismantled it.
  • Glue the insole back to the sole and voila! You have a brand new shoe to last a little longer for you
  • Make certain that the glue dries properly and each component of the shoe is properly placed, so you done end up with a forward - backward shoe.

That's it for today folks, hope you had fun reading it, do have a great week.
P.S. ** you can do the same thing for your bags and accessories like bangles, hair bands, e.t.c.

Cheers......

REPURPOSING YOUR CHRISTMAS DECOR FOR THE WHOLE YEAR

‎So, valentine's day have come and gone and I had lots of fun. Finally was able to give by hubby the gift he wanted most (thanks to you all who shared some gift ideas with me). I was chilling (can't remember where exactly) one hot evening, and was thinking that I hadn't posted anything on interior decor  in a very long time, so  I decided to check out the web for some inspiration. Of all the sites I visited, this one stood out to me - patiencebrewster.com. She is an artist and illustrator known for her unique Christmas ornaments, holiday decor and gifts.  ‎ Now this is totally new to me, but I always aspiring for something new was inspired by her to come up with creative ideas to repurpose Christmas decorations for use all year round, instead of packing them up till another Christmas. I have decided to do this for each month of the year, starting with this month, (though it's almost over).

For this month, the month of February, the month regarded by many if not all, as the of love. I have been brainstorming to come up with a creative idea for Valentine’s day. Redecorating in the shape of a HEART is what instantly comes to mind, but that one is already taken and a bit cliché. Going with a "V" seemed a little bit too obvious, even though a heart shape without the top part leaves us with a "V" too. I then thought about arranging the decorations in the alphabets that spell LOVE, making the V more pronounced to represent valentine. Finally, I decided to leave the proverbial "box" to think, guess what I came up with?

I thought about synonyms, antonyms, homonyms and I came up with a homophone - Heart vs. Hat. You could redecorate in the shape of a Hat! What do you think of that? Crazy creative right? Well, if we weren't repurposing Christmas decorations, then you could use your hats (for those of us who have lots of hats) to decorate in the shape of a heart. As for what specific colours to use, that's easy. Valentine's day share some similarities in color with Christmas - red. Alright, that's all I could come up with for this month. Hope you love it.

Cheers

DO I REALLY NEED ALL THESE DEVICES?

Hello dear friends and readers,

I decided to take my occasional break from all the hullabaloo of stress going on in Nigeria and my personal life to write about something less stressful, but something we should think about nonetheless. I'm sure you have realized that it when you leave home that you miss it most, no matter how stressful you thought it was when you were last there. In my belief, I think life should be juicy, but sadly, it isn't. The last revision course I attended made me pause a bit and think; Here is what happened. I travelled with my colleague so we decided to share a room at the hotel. All was well until we decided to charge our phones. It was then we realized that we each had at least 3 electronic devices to charge. What caused the problem however, was the fact that they had only two sockets in the room, and one of them was for the television and they didn't provide us with an extension box. So we had to choose between the TV and our phones and we had to wake up repeatedly at night to change the devices. LOL. It was not funny at the time.

In Nigeria today, finding a person with 2 or more phones, 1 tablet and/or 1 computer is considered normal. What has caused this problem, I ask? Most people would probably find it easier to ignore this issue than face up to it and call it the problem that it is, myself inclusive. Calling the proverbial spade a spade or as they say hitting the nail on the head. Until, the issue of needing an extension wire to charge my numerous devices, I've look upon this matter as solely the problem of the telecommunications sector (I agree, they have at least 80-90% of the blame to take). Allow me to further buttress my point.

What has caused this problem?
Before the advent of cell phones in Nigeria, we survived but like they say, "you can't miss what you never had". Cell phones were introduced, the telecommunications sector privatized, (I don't know which came first) and boom! it was money making time. I can almost stake my neck and say its was an economic boom worldwide, but I won't as  I have no concrete evidence. (If you do, please share). The reason for my postulation is simple. Anything that Nigerians particularly, the Igbos discover, had to be had but also in abundance. They have to do business afterall. I'm not been derogatory here, just stating the truth. I'm also Igbo and I love business.

Now, let's analyze this. The private telecommunication companies come into the country, and set their tariffs, You need a phone for their SIM cards, the business men enter China to get the supplies. More companies come in to compete and reduce the tariffs, (who remembers when globacom came into the picture and changed tariff rates from "per minute" charge to "per second" charge? That is also one of the problems. It made life easier to deal with, but now, a bit cumbersome. Another example, do you remember buying SIM cards for as much as N20,000? or those NOKIA 3310 for about N30,000. Now, what about searching for "network?" You receive a call and you can't hear properly and you start raising up the phone to look for the network. LOL. This still happens till today and it is the primary cause having too many devices. Now consider a man is on a call with business partners and the "network" disappears? The businessmen solved their problem by buying multiple phones. If this "network" goes off, the other will continue. The second major problem for use of multiple devices was reduction in  the prices of both the phones, sim cards, call and sms rates. Again, do you remember sending text messages for N15 or making calls per minute at N50? Abi, is it placing your thumb on the "off button" of the handset to make sure you end the call at exactly 59 secs so it doesn't enter the second minute (1:01), LOL. Well, that problem was solved by competition among the companies and phone retailers , but that made for easy access to the service (great thing!) and possession
of many phones because the tariffs are cheaper intra-network than extra. (can't remember the proper terms right now, something like on and off-net? please bear with me. I"m medical not engineer).

How did we attempt to solve the problem of owning many phones?
When almost everyone owned at least 2 to 3 cell phones within a very short period of its inception in Nigeria, the problem was dubbed GSM MADNESS and then nollywood made a movie out of it. Like they do everything else, e.g. Facebook babes, very soon, they will make ebola movie. (Nollywood make una no too vex with me, some movie they try but some?, mehn!!! LOL). China, came to the rescue with double sim phones before I saw it on any of the big names like Nokia, Samsung or Sony Ericsson. also, there were some improvement with the "network finding" problem associated with the telecoms companies.

Finally! there seemed to be a solution to the whole gsm madness, even with the advent of phones with polyphonic and mp3 ringtones and camera, until some other phone manufacturing companies decided to turn fruits into phones and we got BLACKBERRY and APPLE (iPhone). Many showed up and made mini laptops and tabs. We entered the smartphone era. With these came access to the internet from the convenience of your toilet. No more going to check mails at the cyber cafe, where you have to buy time and people had to do night browsing for project work and co. Internet and smartfones brought their own problems. You have to buy modem, more sim cards because most of these devices require mini-sim and the only way to retain your number was to cut your sim. Most people don't like that, me neither. and I can't just discard it (old sim - most people already have that number). So, we buy another sim. We don't like the internet tariffs, we keep and buy another one we heard is cheaper. And so the vicious cycle continues.

What is the way forward now?
Honestly, I don't know (according to the singer Omawumi, "if you ask me, na who I go ask"?). This however, is what I know for sure. The rule of moderation never killed anybody. I believe the western world found a solution to the problem (that is, if they ever went through this stage). These devices have been postulated to be linked to cancer, and with cancer, prevention is definitely better than cure. I understand the problem, I have it too, which is why I'll try to listen to my own advice. Wish me luck. If you have ideas on how to solve the problem, do share with the rest of us.

Cheers.....

DECORATING SMALL SPACES IN A GREAT WAY

Hey everyone!
So, I just moved in with my hubby and we both realized that the space was suddenly too small for both of us, since our apartment wasn't ready as at the time of the wedding. But we had to devise a way to fit both our stuff until a time that we can conclude our moving arrangements. This situation inspired me to write this topic. To help people living in small spaces manage it properly.

It can be quite difficult designing any space at all but designing, organizing and decorating a small space has to be done with even more effort.Thank goodness I'm an interior designer. A few weeks ago, I posted something on tips and tricks to organizing, you can check it out here. Today, I'll be focusing more on how to make your small space look adequate if not large. Some major items need to be taken into consideration and they include:

  • Storage: This is very very essential. It can not be over-emphasized! Really!!... The only way to make your space not look cluttered and jam-packed is if you have everything in their own proper homes. You are lucky if you have an in-built closet in your room. (Most Nigerians apartment and even homes have this. They don't have a walk-in closet like the western world.) So, you got a in-built closet? great! half of the problem is solved, just make sure it's properly partitioned to store more things. So there's a separate area for shoes and clothes and accessories, even the bed linens and towels have their very own section. That's exactly what I did at my new home.

  • Furniture: Don't go getting huge furniture pieces, it could crowd up the space and make it look even smaller. Buy small furniture that's adequate for the space. For your bedroom, you may need just a bed with storage drawers underneath for storage. A small reading table with side drawers and/or bookshelf attached, may come in handy, and of course your wardrobe (armoire). The living room could have minimal furnishing, like a sofa and an armchair or two, depending on the size of the space. A coffee table and maybe a dining table. Just as long as it doesn't get crowded.
  • Make use of the walls: This is also inclusive of storage but I started it with a different bullet to emphasize its need. Instead of hanging up artwork that are just for beauty, put up floating cabinets. It can also serve as a feature wall. Have a look here. A lot of designers believe in darker colors for the walls, but I believe quite the opposite. Bright colors like white or cream, even a lighter shade of any color like pink (baby pink), blue (sky blue), green (mint green) or yellow could go. For that darker shade, use it a one wall as a feature wall with a POP! of color. Infact, you can have the pop of color and floating cabinets together on one wall as your feature wall as shown below. Even better when the cabinets are done in white.
  • Lighting and accessories: Most small spaces come with at most 2 windows, so you'd need as much light as you can get. Ensure that your blinds are light so as to let in natural light as much as possible. You can also accessorize with beautiful lamps and lighting fixtures. Thick curtains just make the space feel choked up. Another important thing to accessorize with are mirrors. They make the space look larger, maybe even twice as large.

  • For kitchens, try to create space by taking everything up, even the plate racks and microwave. Keep the work surfaces free for cutting up and cooking.
So the next time you are on a budget and can only afford a small apartment but need much space, just take these tips and you are good to go.

Cheers....

TIPS AND TRICKS TO ORGANIZING

Hello everyone,

A few days ago, I had to do some organizing for a friend of mine. I decided then to write about tips to organizing since it is a topic that has been on my draft since forever. So, without wasting much time, I'll just get down to business. Organizing can easily be achieved and I know you'd ask how? or say it's easy for me to say. True. The ability to organize can either come naturally to you or be acquired through training. Mine, I'll say is natural. I remember my aunts telling me stories of when I was just a baby and all I wanted to do while others played or ate was to "arrange the house". It's funny and I almost didn't believe it until I decided to start a business and interior designing came to mind. I don't need to say that interior designing and organizing are related, I guess we already surmised as much. LOL.

The steps to follow when you think of organizing is as listed below;
  • Time: This is the single most important factor when it comes to organizing your stuff. We all wish we have more hours in the day to get stuff done, but it looks like 24 hours has come to stay. Here is an article I once wrote on time management. It's an in guiding you through the steps of saving your time

  • To do list: These are extremely important. They help you allocate not just your time, but they help you plan and budget. It keeps you in check. There are 3 main types of to-do list; daily, project and long-term lists. The daily lists can be made more specific by allocating a time frame to each task, e.g grocery shopping: 9-11am, go to the salon: 11am - 12noon e.t.c. something that works with you. A number of things can be used to make to-do-lists, they range from your regular notebook (my favourite), to-do planners, calenders and phones. It is just like setting an alarm for your mum or dad or someone special's birthday. As each task is accomplished, you can tick them off or cross them out of the list.
  • Space: Don't try to tackle everything at once, you'll get easily worn out. Take it one space at a time. You may decide to start with the bedrooms or the living areas and gradually work your way out. You may also decide to start from the most tasking space before moving to less cluttered ones. Take a minute and think about every organizing show on style network and see how much time is put into the job and also notice that they clean a space at a time. (Remember they work in teams and you are just you with probably little or no help.)

  • Tools: To create and functionally operate an organized space, you have to have a place for every stuff you have. This means you either have to have great storage space or make what you have work. Baskets and floating cabinets are a great way to maximize storage. There should be no "junk trunk" if it can be avoided. However, over time, I've realized that almost everyone has a junk trunk or box. A junk trunk is a place where you keep stuff that are not large enough (usually in quantity) to have their own spaces. Things that when given their individual spaces may add to the clutter rather than reduce it.
  • Recycle: When organizing, especially if it's a large space, get 3 big baskets or bins. Label one "keep", another "discard" and the last, either "sell" or "giveaway" or even "maybe". The "Keep" basket as the name implies should contain items you wish to continue using. (things that you NEED not things you WANT.) The giveaway and discard bins are as the name implies. Please don't giveaway stuffs that are in bad condition.

Benefits
  • It helps save time and money
  • It reduces stress
  • Helps you take charge of your life and increases your confidence
  • Increases people's trust in you when they know you'll keep their stuff safe
Everyone needs to be organized to attain maximum effectiveness and efficiency in their lives, whether it's at home, in the office, even in your car. So start organizing....

Cheers......

RECYCLING YOUR LONG FORGOTTEN HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

I know, I know, now "what kind of topic is this?" you might ask and "why would I want to recycle old stuff when i can easily go out and get brand new ones?", some others might ask. But my question is this "why not?". " Have you ever had old worn-out jeans that you loved so much and didn't want to throw away even though it's now torn in a few places and you then decided to cut them to make them shorts so you can wear them around them house to carry out your daily activities since you can't wear them out anymore?" " have you had long hair for a while and now you want to have a new look so you just cut them a little shorter or style them differently?" Well that's exactly the same thing as recycling.

What are the items you have in your attic, basement or warehouse, items you haven't thought about in a pretty long time? Recently, I did a thorough clean up of my dad's warehouse and I found some items I felt might just be useful to me on the long run. I found 3 wooden frames, a beautiful wallpaper, a light lap rug, some materials, shelves, chairs, tables and throw pillows. These items might sound odd to be found in someone's warehouse but not when your father has been in the furniture business since before you were born. I found a few more that I haven't decided what to make of just yet.

Framed Lap rug

Framed Wallpaper

The chairs, tables, shelf, throw pillows, I decided to use in designing my home office. The materials I used to make curtains for the office too. The wallpaper, wooden frames and lap rug were framed and now I have beautiful artworks. Don't they look absolutely beautiful? Would you have guessed it? Are you still thinking it's a waste of time to rummage over your old stuff and see what you can make out of them? I don't think so. So dears, don't be afraid of a little dirt, go see what you have hiding in your storage places. This exercise will even help you see things that are no longer useful to you and you can just purge them out and create more space. Happy digging!!!

TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD USE OF ALL YOUR OUTFITS

For a lot of people with lots of clothing, shoes and accessories, it is usually a problem to decide what to put on in the morning, be it for work, church, shopping, partying e.t.c. They get attached to some and let others go to neglect.

Most people who are organised tend to want to do things in an almost perfect manner even up to the way they wear their clothes and I mean this literally. I remember having lots of clothes and always wearing a few while neglecting others. So, I came up with an idea of wearing my clothes so I get to wear all of them. Funny isn't it? You'll find however, as you read on that you'd find these tip useful.

  • First, separate your clothes into events like work clothes, church clothes, party clothes, staying at home clothes e.t.c.
  • Secondly, wear your clothes by colors, pick one color for every week. For example different shades of green this week and maybe pink next week and black/white the week after.
  • When you have successfully worn them through, stagger the best of your outfits for another 2 weeks or so, like red today, blue tomorrow.
  • Go back to the weekly routine.
Initially you might think its a waste of your time until friends, families, co-workers begin to take notice. The advantages of wearing your clothes in this manner is that it gives you an opportunity to actually go through your closet and purge any unwanted items if need be and it makes you look more stylish.

Now, at work, people see me on monday and really want to know if I will pull of the colors for that week.  I have succeeded in making a fashion statement at my workplace though silently at first but now, not as much .  People will notice, believe it or not. Always don't forget a nice pair of shoes and your accessories.

So go out there and channel your inner rockstar!

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE A PERFECT WRINKLE-FREE BED

Everyone wants comfort and luxury and where best to get it than in your bedroom? A perfectly made bed makes for a very good sleep *maybe even with sweet dreams*. You know the saying "as you make your bed, so shall you lie on it"? Well, in this case it is literally true. To make a perfectly wrinkle free bed, do the following:

  • Buy a very good textured bedspread: There are a variety of materials used to make bedspreads out there ranging from cotton, linen, silk to polyester. The best of course is cotton and linen. When buying your bedspread, ask the seller if you can have a feel of the texture. If they have authentic products, they would readily agree. The way the material feel to the back of your have is exactly how it will feel to your skin lying down on it. If you live in the tropics and have a poor cooling system, please avoid silky materials for your beddings cause when the temperature rises, you get hot and sticky real fast. Hence, silks are best for temperate regions whereas, cotton and linen goes for any part of the world. As a general rule, avoid polyester.
  • Buy a blanket: Sometimes, despite our best attempts to get a good textured bedspread, the nature of the covering of the mattress might be totally out of your hands. So, getting a good big enough blanket that properly covers the mattress is the next step. They come in a variety of colors too. The best type are the wooly ones. Spread the blanket and tuck it in around the edges. Blankets have other advantages aside from giving you a wrinkle-free bed;
    • It keeps you warm
    • It adds to the comfort you seek as you sleep

  • Iron the bedspread to further remove wrinkles.

  • Lay your Bedspread: Spread it on the bed to cover all edges, make sure it's not more on one side than the other. Smoothen out any wrinkles to the sides. Tuck in the head and toe parts first, then the two sides or vice versa. Don't tuck in adjacent ends, it makes the finished work look haphazard. If you have someone on the opposite of the bed to help you, better. Two is always better than one.

There you have it, your perfectly wrinkle-free well made bed ready to be slept in. If you like this article, don't hesitate to let me know. If you are also in need of perfect beddings, contact me. My details are on my "contact" page on this blog.

STORAGE

What comes to mind when you think storage? The act of storing something i.e. keeping something and being able to retrieve it whenever you need it without much ado. In designer terms, I call it organising. Do you know a lot of people have no idea how to organise their belongings? It’s not just enough to throw them together in a closet and lock the door. The fact that no one sees it doesn’t make it right, it just makes you messy. Storage of course is very important in any household, but the way your belongings are stored make all the difference. Some people have very little space but have a lot of things packed in. You can never guess because they’ve organised the right way; while others have such large spaces, it’s a marvel to watch it go to waste. This goes to say whether you have so much stuff than you know what to do with or so little it can fit into one box, you need to learn how to store your things properly. There are ways to make your space work for you as per storage;
  • Determine the size of the space
  • What do you want to use it for?
  • What do you want to fit into the space, In other words, how much stuff do you have?

Now you know certain information on what to have in mind when creating and using storage system. Your storage facility/measure should be something that fits into some if not all the criteria listed above. The following are ways to make the maximum use of your space with the appropriate storage system. In addition to the conventional wardrobes, cabinets and shelves, you can do the following;
  • Having a drawer underneath your bed
  • A couch that can easily be converted to a bed becomes useful in the hands of a person with a small apartment.
  • Use of small labelled baskets (lets you know where everything is at a glance).
  • Use appropriate sized furnishing; you don’t want to put a huge 4-poster bed, wardrobe, couch and table in a tiny room.
  • Have your wardrobe divided into proper sections.

COLOR CODING

Color coding is useful when it comes to choosing a color to use for your house. In the article "mixing textures and patterns" and "mixing colors", it was mentioned how 2 colors can be used for a space. It was called the 2-tone wall. Here color coding is not only limited to your walls. The ways your clothing are hung in your closet also matter, in fixing up your bookshelves and plate cabinets. Tell me what is more fun than being able to organise your stuff using colors? Believe me it makes everything so much easier. Are you looking for a book or that blouse you love so much but can never find to wear? When you organise by color codes, you see everything at a glance. You can even use color codes for your clothes folded into drawers. An example of how to color code is shown below;

WhiteSilverSky blueTurquoise blue (aqua)Royal blueNavy bluePurpleLilac Baby pinkPinkFuchsia – Red - Maroon – Brown – Tan (Carton color)OrangePeachGold – YellowLemon greenTurquoise greenLeaf greenArmy greenGrey – Black

Every one doesn't have all shades of color in their wardrobe at every given time so; all you need when fixing your wardrobe is to arrange the cloths in ascending or descending shades of colors like from lightest to the darkest shade.

Try out this little trick when organizing and see how much easier it becomes to reach objects. Hope you love this article as much as you've loved the previous ones.
Cheers!

PICTURE ARRANGEMENT

Picture arrangement can either be the simplest or hardest thing you can do. The way your pictures are arranged can make your home very beautiful or totally tacky. A lot of people are of the opinion to scatter all the framed photographs and artworks they have on every wall in their space, even on the floor resting on the wall. That is not a very bright idea obviously. The best way to arrange your pictures is to give them a voice of their own. For example, imagine that you are in a photo gallery but this time only one wall shows all the pictures, people will scramble over themselves to get a look. So, instead of scattering your pictures all over the place, pick a wall and make it your focus ( your feature wall). Choose any arrangement pattern you like, as listed below and apply it. You will soon notice that your house will become a gallery because the moment people walk in, the arrangement is the magnetic force that pulls them to take a closer look. Nobody wants to be walking about just to look at your pictures and trust me you don't want them doing so either.

*TIPS:
  • If you have kids, choose a design pattern that will keep the pictures out of their reach
  • Always strive for uniformity. You can re-frame your pictures to get this look as shown below
  • Call an expert if you simply have no idea what to do

STYLES:
  • Scattered in a family tree
  • Straight Horizontal line
  • Straight Vertical line
  • Diagonally
  • Big ones in the middle and Smaller ones at the sides
  • Big ones at the sides and smaller ones at the sides

FIXING UP YOUR BOOKSHELVES AND CABINETS

Hey guys, I'm here again with more sensational information, this time on how to fix up your bookshelves and cabinets in the most stylish way ever!!!
We all know the normal routine of stacking our books longitudinally according to the height (from tallest to shortest), others organize according the volume/size of the books. What about the plate and glassware cabinets in the kitchen or even your bar? Have you ever considered doing these arrangements a different way?, going a totally different direction from the everyday routine? Guess what, that's what makes all the difference.

Do a horizontal arrangement for your books, stacking according to volume, but this time also according to color. Put all shades of one color, e.g. green and put all shades of red next to it and so on. Don't forget my favourite thing to do; accessorize!! Put little vases, figurines or picture frames beside or between stacks/rolls. It just give you that POP!

horizontal arrangement of your bookshelf

There are also others ways to organise your bookshelves, for example, the books can be arranged diagonally, but the shelf has to be designed in that manner to pull it off effortlessly. Whatever design pattern you choose, just make it your own but please not tacky.

Your cabinets can be pretty much done in the same manner. If you have many plates, why hide them in cartons in one unused section of your house? Put up an open cabinet and stack them according to colors and designs, same goes for your wine glasses and tea-cups. If not so comfortable with an open cabinet, then put a glass door on it just to showcase your great organizational skill. Always remember to accessorize and POP as you go!

Please also take note that shelves are not just for books and kitchen-ware, they can be used to put p your accesories for those of us that are collectors and don't want the regular types been used. Some floating shelves could just be what you and looking for and more importantly, what you need. Hope this helps? Cheers
