BEACH THEMED DECOR

After the last discussion on tropical themed decor, it only seemed natural that the beach themed decor should come next. Don't you agree? Like I mentioned in that post, the tropical themed decor is divided into two types, the tropical rainforest (which I dealt with the last time) with emphasis on African decor and the tropical beach theme. The beach theme is far more universal than the tropical rainforest and if I can say so personally, far more enticing. It makes you think of summer or in my case (in Nigeria -dry sunny days).

When decorating with the beach theme, the colors blue and brown in lighter hues come to mind, also white. In general think neutral tones.  This is taking into cognizance the colors of the sea, the sky and the earth. It has a very natural look. The colors can be used interchangeably i.e. you can either use blue, white of light brown on the walls but I prefer white or sky blue walls with a feature wall showing a beach theme using wallpaper or wall murals.

Using woven baskets, mats or furniture (beds or cane-chairs) as shown above are a fun way to create the beach theme in your homes. Another fun way is to add shells collected in the beach. You can even collect some beach sand in a jar then arrange the shells on it. It'll serve as a great centre piece.

If you can't go all the way, then by all means accessorize with your beddings, throwpillows, rugs and artwork. Often times the beach theme is confused with the nautical theme, but they are quite different ways to style your home as you'll find out when the nautical themed decor will be discussed

Stay tuned dears and keep reading.
Cheers.....
