TIPS: MY SISTER'S HAIR THERAPY

Hello everyone,

Compliments of the season. Christmas is upon us and we all want to look our best. It's funny but have you noticed that Christmas is celebrated by almost everyone worldwide? Irrespective of religion, and it is not necessarily celebrated for it's original reason and purpose. Many pose the argument that the date was originally meant for the Jewish Passover. However, for what ever reason, people love celebrations and so they love Christmas too. It's a time for some to relax from work. (I say some because my last Christmas was spent in the hospital on call. Thank God I'm free this year). For others, it's a time to spend some time with family and friends, To give and to receive gifts. In the midst of all these, we want to look our BEST!!!

Now talking about looking our best, I decided to try out my sister's hair therapy mixture. Just so I can have a shiny bouncy hair too. To find a bit of that story, click here. Her mixture had 4 ingredients, all of them edible. When asked why? She replied our hair should eat too just like we do. I have to say I agree with her line of reasoning. So, I got the following ready to set up my homemade hair kit.
  • A small bowl and spoon/spatula.
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise.
  • 2 tablespoons of Shea butter.
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons of honey.
  • 1 raw egg.
Already broke the egg before I remembered to take the picture
I mixed everything up in the small bowl and went about it's application to my hair.
This is what the mix looks like

Cut your hair into small sections and apply the mixture

It looks like you applied a creme relaxer at the end of the process.

Wrap up your hair in a plastic shower cap.

Wrap up in a towel. Leave for 30 minutes.

Wash off with hot water, (the mixture is very oily), a good shampoo and conditioner.
Towel dry to remove excess water.
Apply coconut oil also in sections of your hair.
Allow to air dry OR use rollers and hair dryer.
If you allowed to air dry, you can then blow dry with a hand dryer later.

Sorry I don't have "after" pictures of my hair. I had to blow dry and fix a weave at a salon the next day. Somehow, I forgot to take a picture after the blow-dry. But I can assure you that it was not only shiny and bouncy. It was also smooth and soft.  I even have baby hair in front and on the sides of my head now. Try it, it's great.

Cheers....

  1. Hello Keren, Reading your helpful how to guide reminded me of Queen Latifa in "Beauty Shop." She created a hair treatment called "hair crack."

    1. Thanks a lot Michelle, Glad I could help. I think I watched that movie. It was hilarious. I've actually used a hair cream with real Indian herm in it. *LOL*. They told me it grows hair fast!!! Still don't know if it actually does. May work for some people.
